JAMAICA

In partnership with Jamaica Youth For Christ

Join us as we bring high-energy street show-style shows to Jamaica. Fall in love with the Jamaican people as you interact, play games with, and serve them. Travel off the beaten tourist path and minister alongside our local partners, meeting real needs, and sharing Jesus' love along the way.

Why Choose Next Gen?

Your Next Gen host will provide your team an organized, safe, and insightful trip. In addition to arranging air and ground travel, lodging, and meals, we also help equip your skill groups, provide cultural knowledge, and accompany you on the trip. Relationships are a critical element of Next Gen--relationships with your team, within your team itself, and with those we serve overseas. We have an extensive list of local connections to ensure your trip is effective and enjoyable for team members and the Jamaicans you serve and with whom you build relationships.

What Will I Be Doing?

Next Generation Mission has a long-standing relationship with Jamaica Youth For Christ, which affords us the opportunity to partner with ministries in work they are already doing. Schools, orphanages, street shows, and churches are frequently on our agenda, although we do host work teams as well. Using music, drama, puppets, and other skill teams, we are free to share the Gospel on the island. Team members will also have the chance to build individual relationships with Jamaicans, learn about their rich history, enjoy some cultural experiences, and play at Dunns River Falls or other local recreation spots.

JAMAICA FAQ

  • How much does the trip cost?

Because Next Gen provides trips based on your team, we take many factors into account for your trip. Jamaica trips generally run seven days and average $2,900-3,200. The size of your group and itinerary chosen will affect pricing.

  • What ages are best suited for ministry in Jamaica?

Jamaica trips are most frequently offered for junior and senior high groups, although we have a number of adult groups minister alongside us as well. And we have, at times, brought teams made up of families. If you feel God is calling you to Jamaica, we would love to visit with you!

  • How do I cover the expense?

Many teams hold fundraisers, create sponsorships, and raise money through church and individual donations from family and friends.

Next Gen does require a $400 non-refundable deposit upon registration and a complete payment schedule follows. Please note that donations are considered tax-deductible as the law allows.

  • What makes a trip successful?

The success of a trip depends on you! Team members open to learning, willing to experience new things, and flex with the day's plans often have the best experience. We often find that God works best in what seems difficult to us. Jamaica is unique in many ways and embracing the adventure of another culture, instead of expecting it to be like home, is often key to what a group might consider "successful."

  • What do I need to know about passports and visas?

A valid passport is required for Americans traveling to Jamaica. Additionally, your passport must be valid for six months AFTER your last travel date (for example, if your passport expires May 31, your passport needs to be valid until November 30 for you to travel). At this time, no visas are required.

Be advised that passport processing can take up to three months for a new application. Expedited processing is available for an additonal fee.. Many passport renewals can be handled online and do not take as long, but we highly recommend allowing a generous timeframe for all passports.

  • Does my minor child need a Consent to Travel form?

Yes! Children traveling to Jamaica without both parents require a Consent to Travel form.

Please note, this form MUST BE NOTARIZED, so do not sign the form until the notary can witness your signature.
